By saying, "you can't do this" or "you can only do that this way", humans, in my experience, including my self, have a will of their own, and by threatening that will causes resistance. We are all conditioned to be resistant when being regulated by the very society that is trying to regulate us in that it makes us independent. Being independent is drilled into a lot of us as we grow into adulthood probably for the reasons that we can survive in this society in the time that may call for independence. Whatever the reason for it, I still stand by my experience and also admit the powerful urge to resist regulation of any kind. It's not that I want to kill someone for example, but to tell me not too is insulting! @Tim Metcalfe
