“War is the supreme failure of bridging the differences between nations,” according to the creator of a social model called “the Venus Project” – American futurist and inventor Jacque Fresco.

Fresco also thinks a resource-based economy is the key factor to preserving world peace.

“Democracy is a con game, it is a word invented to outplay people, to make them accept a given institution. All institutions sing ‘we are free’. The minute you hear ‘freedom’ or ‘democracy’ – watch out, because in a truly free nation, no one has to tell you that you’re free,” Fresco said.

He believes “It is not that people are good or bad, they are raised in an aberrant or twisted environment.”

“Social change cannot come above the intellect,” said Fresco answering a question about the current economic crisis in the US, “it comes about by people suffering. And the more people are related to that, the more they lose respect for an existing government. They will seek another direction. If there are too many people who seek a new direction, then the existing government calls upon the army and police to manage society – that is called fascism.”

During this year (2010) 2 events of great importance come for The Venus Project and The Zeitgeist Movement. One of them is the World Lecture Tour of The Venus Project which will be an on-going tour around the world. The second is the Z-DAY, an event organized by the Zeitgeist Movement that also takes place globally, on March 13th 2010 this year. The main event will be held in New York City. Information and specifications follow below.

World Lecture Tour

Jacque Fresco and Roxanne Meadows will be starting a World Lecture Tour in 2010, right after Zday.

The reason for this tour is essentially to spread the word about the Venus Project and the Zeitgeist Movement. The success of the world tour will also help them maintain and work from the research center in Venus, Florida.

The Venus Project envisions a global civilization where the methods of science and technology are applied with human and environmental concern so as to secure, protect, and encourage a more humane world for all people.

Jacque and Roxanne will present the redesign or our culture offering a possible way out of our recurring cycles of boom and recession, famine, poverty, a declining environment, and territorial conflicts where peace is merely the interval between wars.

The lectures are a challenge to all people to work toward a society in which all the world’s resources become the common heritage of all the world’s people in a resource-based economy.

The Venus Project is an organization offering feasible plans for social change one that could attain a peaceful and sustainable global civilization. Z-DAY event

“Zeitgeist Day”, or ZDAY for short, is an annual, global event day which occurs in the middle of March, each year. The goal is to increase public awareness of The Zeitgeist Movement and The Venus Project.

In 2009, we had over 450 events in over 70 countries. These events were well documented by news agencies across the world, including the New York Times in America. An archive list of these events can be found here.

A Zeitgeist Day Event can take many forms, ranging from a simple showing of DVD media like Zeitgeist: Addendum to prerecorded lectures by Meadows, Joseph or Fresco;  to interactive question-and-answer events with Chapter Organizers in various regions, giving their own unique presentations.

While it is not required to be in a regional Zeitgeist Movement Chapter to have an event, it is recommended. To find a Chapter in your area, please check here. Generally speaking, we encourage each Chapter to help organize events in their region. This is not a requirement, however.

Jacque Fresco Talk Series was filmed in London on Oct 6th 2009 by the cinematographer Mark Waters and directed by Frank Da Silva. This series of short films was produced to introduce the Earth 2.0 – Movie concept. Production has recently started. The film will be an Independent Film Production and it will present an examination of the future of humanity. Jacques Fresco, social engineer, futurist and the brilliant mind behind The Venus Project insists that we must prepare for the changes to come. In his view, if the structure of society should fall we must be ready to take the opportunity to upgrade every possible facet of our civilization. The visionary ideas of Jacque Fresco will be presented in parallel with experts in every field including social engineers, biologists, botanists, technologists, psychologists, futurists and inventors.

The Film Designing the Future by William Gazecki about the life and work of Jacque Fresco will be showing in Rancho Cucamonga, CA this Tuesday, June 2 at the Lewis Family Playhouse. William Gazecki will be taking questions after the showing.

A warm welcome to all our new readers.

Without a vision of what the future can be we are bound to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. All my life I have seen wars, lies, embezzlement, corruption, economic break down, and the failure of politicians to solve problems without the use of force or militarism. If we fail to accept responsibility for our own future, others will do our thinking for us, soon leading to fascism.

The Venus Project advocates dealing with the causes of our social problems instead of trying to patch up our outdated system. We think the best formula for global sustainability without war, crime, unemployment, poverty, and hunger requires declaring the earth’s resources as the common heritage of all people in a resource based economy.

The internet is the greatest force for liberation today, and we look forward to sharing this direction with you on our new blog. Please spread the word and help shape a positive future.
